The PathoShield range has been developed in line with UN3373 Category B, for the safe and complaint transportation of human and animal biological samples. For sending samples via postal services a UN3373 compliant system should be used in order to avoid potential contamination of both the sample and environment.
UN3373 is a United Nations classification which refers to biological materials originating from human or animal. A Category B classification is an infectious substance to which exposure is not expected to cause permanent disability or fatality. Substances included in these classifications are blood and all components (plasma etc.), saliva, urine, faeces, tissue samples and other body fluids.
UN3373 samples must be transported and packaged in a P650 (packing instruction 650) compliant system. These are a triple layer system which protects the sample but also prevents leakages. Each system should include a leakproof primary receptacle, absorbent material capable of absorbing the entire sample and a secondary outer which should be rigid.
The PathoShield range contains:
- A Rigid Outer (secondary outer) pre printed with all required markings for transport regulations
- A PathoSeal 95kPa bag (primary receptacle)
- Absorbent Material
- Security Seal
