The KRUUSE PGA Suture (catalogue number 150710) is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable multifilament surgical suture designed for use in veterinary surgical procedures. Manufactured from polyglycolic acid (PGA) and coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate, the suture provides smooth passage through tissue, excellent knot security, and reliable handling during surgery.
This suture features a 150 cm violet braided thread attached to a 48 mm ½ circle round-bodied taper-cut needle, allowing precise tissue penetration while minimizing trauma to surrounding structures. The braided structure ensures secure knot tying and good handling characteristics, making it suitable for a wide range of soft tissue procedures.
KRUUSE PGA sutures are absorbed in the body by hydrolysis, with complete absorption typically occurring within approximately 60–90 days, eliminating the need for removal. The material retains useful tensile strength during the early healing phase, supporting tissue approximation before gradually breaking down.
These sutures are commonly used for soft tissue approximation and ligation, including procedures involving subcutaneous tissue, fascia, muscles, and gastrointestinal or gynaecological surgery where absorbable sutures are appropriate. Each box contains 12 sterile sutures, making them suitable for routine use in veterinary clinics and surgical settings.
